Shield of the Soul

In the distance, a faint but powerful light shines upon the horizon, representing the divine presence of the Lord, as described in Psalm 3:3: "But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head." The figure is not alone but protected by an ethereal shield of light—God's protection and grace.  

In the heavens above, celestial beings and symbols of faith and hope reach down towards the figure. These elements are a reflection of the verse, "I cried unto the Lord with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill." The connection between man and the divine is illuminated through the upward gaze of the figure and the descending light from the skies. Despite the overwhelming odds, the figure’s head is held high, trusting in God's power to lift them out of despair.
