Chariot of Heaven’s Triumph
This powerful artwork unfolds with majestic imagery, where an angelic figure rides a divine chariot, pulled by celestial horses across rugged mountains. Below, a waterfall cascades through a wild landscape, reflecting the dynamic flow of both nature and divine intervention. The contrast of the ethereal chariot above and the grounded, yet fierce natural elements below embodies the cosmic connection between heaven and earth — a profound visualization of God’s presence moving through creation, just as described in Psalms 68:4 : "Sing unto God, sing praises to his name: extol him that rideth upon the heavens by his name Jah, and rejoice before him."

The angel, fierce and purposeful, commands the chariot through towering peaks, reflecting 68:17 , where it says, "The chariots of God are twenty thousand, even thousands of angels: the Lord is among them." This depiction of the Lord’s celestial army suggests the unstoppable power of divine intervention, scattering the enemies of righteousness. The angel’s fiery descent mirrors the psalm’s call for God to rise and drive away His enemies, just as 68:1 declares: "Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered: let them also that hate him flee before him."
The mountains in the background, harsh and unyielding, stand as symbols of resistance, yet they, too, yield to the presence of God, as the psalm states in 68:8 : "The earth shook, the heavens also dropped at the presence of God." This verse is reflected in the imagery of the landscape quaking under the divine chariot, a reminder of God’s supremacy over all things, both seen and unseen.
The waterfall rushing through the scene represents the living water of God’s grace and His abundant blessings that flow into the lives of His people, reminiscent of 68:9 : "Thou, O God, didst send a plentiful rain, whereby thou didst confirm thine inheritance, when it was weary." Just as the water nourishes the land, God’s mercy and provision sustain the weary and the righteous.
In the foreground, the arid, desolate rocks symbolize the "dry land" where the rebellious dwell, as noted in 68:6 : "But the rebellious dwell in a dry land." Yet even amidst this dry and barren space, the divine light from above promises hope and renewal, breaking through with the message that God's justice will eventually reach even the most desolate places.
As an artist, my intent was to evoke the dynamic tension between divine authority and the forces of resistance that exist in the world. The chariot is not just a symbol of heavenly might but also of deliverance and mercy. I wanted to create a sense of awe, where viewers could feel the presence of God as a force that not only commands but redeems. The angel is poised as both a guardian and a warrior, a visual echo of the verses that speak to God’s ability to both scatter His enemies and bless His people with abundance.
The movement in the artwork, from the thundering chariot above to the rushing waterfall below, represents the unstoppable force of God’s will — one that transcends both the heavens and the earth. In Psalms 68:19 , it says, "Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation," and I wanted this sentiment to flow through the piece, much like the waterfall, reminding viewers of the constant blessings and salvation available to those who call upon God.
The themes of triumph, mercy, and judgment are intertwined throughout this artwork. The light breaking through the clouds speaks to the ultimate victory of righteousness, while the barren lands below and the powerful chariot above symbolize both the desolation left behind by rebellion and the promise of divine intervention for those who are steadfast in faith.
In creating "Chariot of Heaven’s Triumph," I reflected deeply on the meaning of strength and salvation, not just as abstract concepts but as realities in human life. We all face mountains, we all encounter forces that seek to scatter us, much like the enemies described in Psalms 68 . Yet, this Psalm assures us of God’s strength and justice, reminding us that no force can stand against the power of divine grace. I wanted to capture the moment of this cosmic battle — when God’s presence shakes the earth, when the heavens open, and when salvation flows like the waterfall into every corner of existence.
The message I sought to convey is one of hope and trust: that no matter how high the mountains we face, the chariots of God ride above them, and His mercy flows endlessly, just as His justice is unshakeable. This artwork is both a celebration and a prayer, echoing the words of Psalms 68:35 : "The God of Israel is he that giveth strength and power unto his people. Blessed be God." It stands as a testament to the unstoppable force of faith, and the assurance that, even in our deepest struggles, God’s chariot is ever near, riding triumphantly to scatter all that opposes His will and to deliver those who place their trust in Him.
