Echoes of Glory

The vast sky above, depicted in the artwork, symbolizes the heavens that  "declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork." The radiant sun, which cuts across the image, is compared to a bridegroom emerging from his chamber, and a strong man running a race, as noted in verse 5:  "Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race." The sun's path across the heavens is symbolic of God's presence being felt universally, from the ends of the earth to the ends of the heavens, as nothing is hidden from its heat (verse 6). The intricate design of the firmament reflects how creation speaks in a universal language—one that transcends human speech and language barriers, as verse 3 states:  "There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard."  

The clouds, soft yet grand, represent the divine tabernacle for the sun mentioned in verse 4:  "In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun." This line emphasizes God's sovereignty over all creation, placing everything in perfect order for His glory.  

At the heart of the image, glowing and shining, are representations of the law and commandments of God. The clarity and brightness in the center of the artwork highlight verses 7-8:  "The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes." The glowing light suggests the transformative power of God's word, which enlightens and brings joy to the heart. The golden elements represent the value of God’s word, being  "more to be desired than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb." (verse 10).
