Symbols of Strength: The Guardian of the Skies and Beyond
"In this artwork, my goal was to blend the timeless symbols of the United States Marine Corps with the modern, abstract representation of warfare. The Marine Corps flag is at the heart of the piece—it represents the heritage, commitment, and valor that every Marine carries with them into battle.

The F/A-18 Hornet flies through the backdrop, cutting through the abstract urban landscape. It symbolizes the advanced air power of the Marine Corps, which allows them to dominate the skies and bring swift, decisive action to the battlefield. The silhouette of a Marine , embedded with the American flag, captures the unity between the individual soldier and the nation they serve.
The urban abstraction in the background reflects the complexity of modern warfare, where the battlefield is not always clearly defined. It is a world of interconnected cities, technology, and shifting environments that Marines must navigate and adapt to.
Blue and red tones : These colors of the American flag dominate the image, symbolizing loyalty, courage, and sacrifice . The blue represents vigilance and perseverance, while the red reflects the valor and bloodshed of those who fight for freedom. White accents : Signify purity, purpose, and clarity in the midst of chaos. The white within the flag and the abstract layers creates moments of calm, emphasizing the Marines' focus amidst the complexities of their missions. Urban abstraction in shades of blue and orange : Represents the challenges and opportunities of the modern battlefield—technology, cities, and shifting terrain.
In this piece, I wanted to explore the dual nature of tradition and modernity within the Marine Corps. The flag represents a deep history, a connection to the past, while the F/A-18 Hornet represents the forward momentum, the constant evolution of warfare and technology. The silhouette of the Marine , overlaid with the American flag, captures the personal sacrifice and dedication that each soldier brings to their mission. There’s a sense of both honor and urgency in the colors and shapes, as if the Marines are constantly moving forward, guided by their heritage but always adapting to the challenges ahead.
