The U.S. Army is the land warfare service branch of the United States Armed Forces and is one of the seven uniformed services of the United States. Established on June 14, 1775, by the Continental Congress, the Army has been pivotal in defending and maintaining the freedoms secured by the nation's founders. The Army has engaged in more than ten major wars and numerous other conflicts across the globe, always upholding the principles of freedom and democracy.
Purple and Blue Smoke: The choice of purple represents the valor and sacrifice associated with military service. It also conveys a sense of nobility and honor. Blue symbolizes loyalty, strength, and trust, reflecting the deep trust between comrades and the nation they serve. Red and White Stripes: These colors from the American flag resonate with the themes of valor (red) and purity (white). Red evokes the courage and sacrifice of the soldiers, while white symbolizes the peace and safety they fight to secure.
In creating this image, I wanted to delve deeper than the surface narrative of conflict. The layering of images is metaphorical for the complex, multifaceted nature of military service—each layer represents different challenges and victories. The swirling colors not only add a dreamlike quality but also represent the turmoil and beauty of serving one's country.
The emotions I hoped to evoke with this artwork are mixed—pride and sorrow, chaos and order, fear and courage.
