Riding the Dream: From BMX Tracks to Olympic Glory

Perris Benegas, born on April 25, 1995, in Reno, Nevada, USA, has been a trailblazer in BMX freestyle, carving a niche in a sport often dominated by men. Starting her BMX journey at a young age, she quickly ascended the ranks with her unique style and fearless approach. Known not just for her athletic prowess but also for her advocacy for gender equality in sports, Benegas has secured multiple medals in national and international competitions, including a gold medal at the 2021 X Games. 

In the Paris 2024 Olympics, Benegas participated in the Women’s BMX Freestyle Park event. This event involved performing tricks and stunts on a specially designed park course within a limited timeframe. Her silver medal performance, a blend of technical skill, creativity, and athleticism, earned her a score of 94.50, just shy of the gold. This achievement marks a significant milestone in her career, reflecting years of hard work, dedication, and overcoming challenges.
