"I wanted this image to feel as though it was alive, as if the intensity of battle could be captured not only through the actions of the soldiers but through the energy of the colors. The bright, fiery oranges and yellows represent the heat of the moment, the chaos that surrounds them, while the softer greens and blues serve as subtle reminders of hope, resilience, and the fight for a greater cause."

The  soldiers’ silhouettes move through the chaos, seemingly untouched by the fire, like shadows born from the flames. Their forms are not distinct, representing the anonymity of so many who serve, often unseen but always present. The brushstrokes across the piece are intentional—they mimic both the swiftness of action and the destruction that battle brings, as well as the artistic hand that transforms these moments into something more abstract and universal.

The multiple figures and layers create an overwhelming sense of movement, as though time itself is fractured and we’re witnessing various moments all at once—past, present, and future. This represents how soldiers carry not just their current mission but the weight of all those who fought before them and all those yet to come.

The history of the  U.S. Army is deeply tied to moments like these—intense, chaotic battles where soldiers are tested not just in body but in spirit. The Army has been the shield of the United States since 1775, serving in nearly every conflict the nation has faced. This piece hints at the personal sacrifices that soldiers make in these moments of intense action and reflects their enduring resilience. In the face of overwhelming force and danger, soldiers must rely on their training, courage, and the support of their comrades to navigate both the literal and metaphorical fires they face. The silhouetted figures in this artwork are a tribute to their ability to move forward, even when everything around them is burning.

Orange and Yellow : These fiery hues represent  energy, danger, and urgency . The flames are the visual manifestation of the immediate threat faced by the soldiers. Orange is a bold color that signifies the intensity of battle, while yellow adds a sense of warning, signaling the ever-present danger.  Green : Green, in contrast to the fire, symbolizes  life, growth, and hope . It serves as a subtle reminder that even amidst destruction, there is always something worth fighting for. It speaks to the enduring spirit of those who fight to protect their homeland.  Red and Black : Red here is not just a symbol of danger, but of  sacrifice and courage . It underscores the emotional weight of what is being portrayed—the cost of freedom. Black, intertwined with the other colors, represents the unknown, the shadows of fear, and the soldiers’ ability to move through it.

When I created this image, I was thinking about the ways in which soldiers are shaped by the battles they face—both external and internal. The  flames here are not just physical; they represent the emotional fires that burn within each individual, the memories and the trauma carried long after the battlefield is left behind.

The swirling, abstract colors are a reflection of the chaos that is inherent in conflict, but also the creativity and resilience that emerges from such experiences. There’s a sense of urgency in the brushstrokes, as if the story unfolding in front of us is happening in real-time, constantly shifting and evolving.

This piece feels deeply personal to me because it reflects the duality of a soldier's life—caught between the destruction of war and the hope for peace. The  shadows of the soldiers remind me that while the individual may sometimes fade, their legacy and sacrifice leave a lasting mark. In every brushstroke and color, I tried to capture the  courage, resilience, and fire that burns within each soldier, no matter how overwhelming the odds.
