Desert Guardians: Strength in Motion
This piece reflects the strength and versatility of the National Guard in challenging environments. The M1 Abrams Tank, with its powerful cannon and armored exterior, dominates the battlefield, representing the sheer force and resilience of the Guard’s ground operations. The tank is the backbone of defense and offense, capable of handling even the harshest of terrains.

The Humvee in the foreground represents the adaptability of the Guard. Its design allows it to navigate through the rugged desert landscape, symbolizing the readiness of the National Guard to operate in any environment. The explosions and smoke clouds in the background remind us of the intensity and unpredictability of combat, while the desert itself embodies endurance—both physical and mental—required to succeed in missions.
Earthy tones and desert hues: These colors represent stability, resilience, and the harsh realities of the environments the National Guard often finds itself in. The warm tones reflect the sun-scorched landscapes but also the inner strength of the soldiers. Orange and red explosions: Symbolize the intensity of battle, as well as the urgency and critical nature of the missions that the Guard undertakes. Golden and light brown: These shades convey perseverance and readiness, representing the soldiers’ connection to the earth and their grounded approach to protection.
When I created this piece, I wanted to emphasize the balance between power and adaptability. The tank and Humvee both represent two sides of the same mission—one is about brute strength, while the other is about agility and versatility. The explosions add a sense of urgency and chaos, reminding me of the real stakes that the National Guard faces every day. This artwork is a tribute to the Guard’s ability to be both unyielding in battle and flexible in response, no matter the terrain or the challenge.
